As with any standard that is put in place and labeled as such, there are many cases of abuse. 80 percent of the Organic egg market is owned by large, commercial farms. These "farms" were investigated by The Cornucopia Institute. They found many farms violating the organic standards they purported to uphold. Their eggs are labeled Organic on the grocery store shelves yet their were gross violations of the organic standard. You can not rely on government regulations to keep your food safe. Get to know your farmer and decide for yourself if they raise food according to your standards.
