Spring Hill Farms is a family farm located in Newark, Ohio that offers:
Pastured Pork From the Heart of Ohio
Our pork is from heritage breed Tamworth hogs. The Tamworth is an old English breed of swine and takes its name from Tamworth in Staffordshire. The breed is of ancient and uncertain origin, no well authenticated account of where it came from being available. The taste difference of Tamworth meat is not simply something that only producers talk about. Chefs from some of America’s finer restaurants have noticed the difference and are featuring Tamworth pork on their menus.
The Tamworth is one of the great ‘dual purpose’ pigs producing stunningly good pork as well as equally tremendous bacon. In the mid 1990’s the Tamworth came top in a taste test carried out by Bristol University using both commercial and rare breed pigs in a scientifically controlled experiment. It was later suggested that further investigation should take place to establish just what it was that gave the Tamworth meat such a distinctive taste putting it way above all the other breeds. Click Here for more information on the Tamworth Breed.
Ohio Pastured Poultry
Our Pastured poultry is derived from Freedom Ranger Chickens which are used for meat birds produced through the Label Rouge program. These birds (derived from heritage breed genetics) are far more adapted to foraging on grass as compared to the Cornish Cross meat birds. Cornish Cross are used by almost all meat bird operations including pastured poultry operations. Click Here for information on our pastured poultry.
Pastured Eggs From Ohio
Our laying flock is comprised of heritage breed Buckeye, Australorp, and Welsummer hens. To learn why grass fed hens produce the healthiest eggs you can feed your family Click Here
Ohio Grass-Fed Beef
Our Grass fed beef is from genetics that thrive on grass and they finish well on grass. Most beef must be fed grain products to obtain the best marbling. This is at the expense of nutrition and animal welfare. Click Here to get the most nutritious, flavorful beef you've ever had!
